Aurora Australis from space - March 2012




Aκόμη είναι η εποχή που έχουμε το νου μας στο Βόρειο Σέλας ωστόσο, αν και στην Ανταρκτική έχει ακόμη φως, εκεί πάνω στο διάστημα η AURORA AUSTRALIS είναι στα καλύτερα της! Αυτό από την πρόσφατη ηλιακή καταιγίδα!

Ένα συγκλονιστικό βίντεο με το Νότιο Σέλας, όπως φαίνεται από το διάστημα, τραβηγμένο από το Διεθνή Διαστημικό Σταθμό, την ώρα που έκανε ένα πέρασμα από τη Νότια Μαδαγασκάρη έως τη Βόρεια Αυστραλία, στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου 2011!

Aurora Australis - Antarctica






Aurora Australis lights up the night sky over the Australian research station of Casey in the Australian Antarctic Territory, 16 March 2007. The new glacial ice Wilkins Runway situated 65kms from Casey will allow Australian scientists to greatly expand their studies on the effects climate change is having on Antarctica’s fragile environment by providing 20-30 flights from Hobart each summer. Aurora Australis in the autumn skies of New Zealand!




A stream of high-speed solar wind is buffeting Earth’s magnetic field and stirring up geomagnetic storms. At this time of year, the midnight sun interferes with the visibility of Northern Lights over Alaska and Scandinavia, but the situation is different on the other side of Earth. Southern Lights were on full display this morning in the dark autumn skies of Queenstown, New Zealand:
